Attendance
Monitoring
The attendance monitoring feature of the ICAM software allows card readers
to be set up to track attendance at a class or event. This feature can be used
in either of two modes.
In the first and simplest mode, the readers do not check any database,
but simply log all card swipes (or in some cases also check to see that the
card is a valid card). The date, time, ID number, and location of the card
swipe is recorded and later uploaded to a campus host for processing. This
mode is especially suited to remote applications where the reader cannot be
directly wired into the host system during the data gathering process.
In the second mode, a ticket is set up for each
class. Based on demographic information (e.g. flags) from the cardholder
database, cardholders are assigned to classes. The ICAM system then both
records the date, time, location, and card number as above, and in addition
can report on demand who did and did not attend class.
