ICAM Ticket Module

ICAM Ticket Module

The ICAM ticket module allows ticket eligibility to be assigned to cardholders based on database demographics selected by the administrator. As an example, ticket set 7 can be selected to be the one used for the Monday baseball game. All students who have paid their athletic fee can be granted one ticket in ticket set 7. When a cardholder swipes their card, the ICAM system will 1) verify that the cardholder is eligible for the event, and 2) that the cardholder has not used their ticket for the event. If the cardholder meets the criteria, a user definable message is sent to the display. If the criteria is not met, a message is sent to the reader describing the reason for the denial.

Up to 99 ticket sets can be active in the system at any time. These ticket sets can be configured to automatically reset daily or to be reset on demand by the system administrator. A cardholder can be allocated up to 9 tickets on any of the ticket sets.

The ticket capability is useful for a variety of applications other than issuing tickets. These include:

  • Voter eligibility (to check that the cardholder is eligible to vote in the election and that they have not already voted).
  • Check cashing (for institutions choosing to limit the number of checks cashed per day, week, etc.)

Another interesting capability of the ticket feature is the lottery option. In this option the "ticket" grants eligibility for the "lottery". At the time the card is swiped the system determines, by random draw based on odds as set by the system administrator, whether the card "wins". Odds can vary on a reader-by-reader basis and can be changed dynamically. This capability can be use for such applications as a sporting event in which a limited number of eligible cardholders can actually gain entrance to the event. In this case the "lottery" is usually held at locations around the campus during the week prior to the event and the "winners" go to the ticket office to pick up their tickets.
